Currently DIY DTG projects is very popular among people today and many people are learning how to build one from scratch using online tutorials and eBooks, but what people don’t know is that those using A4 printers are wasting their time if their main purpose is for commercial uses.
Today we will see why A4 printers are not good candidates for DIY DTG and why you should stick with A3 models instead.
Why Not Use A4 printers for DIY DTG ?
First of all A4 printers has a much smaller printing area so you will probably only be able to print in pretty small t-shirts or anything between 20x30cm in size.
Another reason why not use it is because the performance of an A4 printer is very poor comparing to A3 models, as you may know the print head of A4 models has a much lower resolution than the big models so it’s not a good idea to use it as DTG printers.
No RIP Software
If you wish to print white ink using an A4 printer you’re out of lucky, most RIP Softwares available are for more advanced printers and you will be lucky if you find one that’s compatible with small printers so just stick with the big printers. It will be much faster to print and lots of helpful sources you can find online.
Why People Still use A4 Printers ?
We get tons of e-mails from people wishing to use their A4 printer and turn it into a DIY DTG, the most obvious reason for this is the price, a small printer can be bought just as low as $70 while A3 models are usually priced from $299 to $800 so there’s a big difference in price.
Lots of people probably think that they will start their business using a small printer and then if it goes well they buy a big one. But if you do this you will just waste money and won’t be able to sell anything since most stuff you print using A4 will probably be in low resolution and blurry.
The only time you should use A4 DTG is if it’s for other purposes like printing on small woods, PCB boards or anything that doesn’t require high resolution.
